H.I.S. HOME CYCLISTS
Kemp has been hosting the H.I.S. HOME CYCLISTS for over ten years. These faithful men, women, and teens have been riding their bikes from Illinois to Ohio each year to raise funds for and heighten awareness of the need to support the children that are housed, loved, and taught at the H.I.S. Home for Children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. We are one of their many stops along the route. We usually host them on the evening of their longest day of riding. We feed them a high carb dinner for energy and arrange a place for them to shower before they settle down for the night in our church for a good nights rest. They are a blessing to so many and we are so richly blessed to have a small part in their efforts.
“DINNER’S ON US!”
Our next dinner is Wednesday October 4, 2017 from 5:30-6:30PM.
The first Wednesday evening of every month, we welcome the entire community to enjoy “Dinner’s On Us.” Since September 2013, we have provided over 1,000 meals to guests and our members. It’s a time of good food, friendship, and fun. Our Praise Team will be presenting a “Mini Concert” quarterly. Our guests greatly appreciate all our efforts, many returning again and again. Through meeting the basic needs of hunger, loneliness, acceptance and love, we hope to develop relationships, opening hearts, and sowing seeds of faith.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
Members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry meet weekly on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm in the lobby classroom. It’s a wonderful time of fellowship with like-minded friends who have seen and experienced the power of prayer and love shared through this vital outreach of Kemp Church. Over 300 shawls have been made and gifted to people in need of physical and spiritual comfort and encouragement. Upon completion, each shawl and its recipient are prayed over by Pastor and the congregation. A lovely handmade card accompanies each shawl, bearing the name of the artisan and the following message: This shawl was made with Blessings, with Love, and with Prayers.
HOME BOUND MEALS
Kemp participates along with other congregations in the community of Tipton County in the delivery of meals to those who are home bound in Area V.
MUSTARD SEED OF TIPTON COUNTY
Kemp is and always has been very involved with Mustard Seed. We were among the original partnering churches that committed to fund and volunteer with the organization. The Mustard Seed offices are currently housed on Kemp’s second floor and we can attest to the number of people who visit and are helped by this organization. Mustard Seed is committed: “To preserve families and individuals by reshaping lives of dependency to lives of self-sufficiency.
